Panda Express Introduces Wagyu To Its Menu For The First Time With New Test Item

Looks like we’re eating Panda Express’ newest test item with pinkies up, because it is the first item ever on the restaurant’s menu to feature 100% Wagyu beef.

Panda Express is currently testing Spicy Wagyu Beef Dumplings at its Panda Express Innovation Kitchen (PXIK) in Pasadena, California from April 21 to June 1, 2023.

The new Spicy Wagyu Beef Dumplings offer five 100% Wagyu beef dumplings, wok-tossed with kale and onions in a sweet and spicy sauce that benefits from some extra zing from Fly By Jing’s Zhong sauce, a concoction of aromatic “fuzhi” soy sauce, slow-brewed with brown sugar, mushrooms, garlic and a blend of spices. Panda Express took inspo for this dish from the popular classic Chengdu street snack, the Zhong Dumpling. 

Here’s hoping the Spicy Wagyu Beef Dumplings prove to be a successful test that leads to national availability — because we all deserve a bit of precious Wagyu.
