KFC’s Iconic Double Down Sandwich Will Return After Nearly A Decade

When KFC first unleashed the Double Down Sandwich to the world back in 2010, folks were in both in awe and shock of the bun-less wonder, quickly earning itself a cult following for its unabashed display of fried chicken indulgence. Simply put, the Double Down was a hit, with KFC selling 10 million of them in its first month alone.

The hype was real, so much so that KFC brought the Double Down back again in 2014. Now, after a nearly a decade of fans clamoring for the legend to make its return, KFC finally is bringing back the Double Down Sandwich for a third act.

Sure, the visual of the sandwich alone is enough to color us eager and intrigued, but it’s always fun to break down the juicy details of the Double Down: It features two of KFC’s Extra Crispy white meat filets, two slices of cheese, two pieces of crispy, hickory-smoked bacon, with either the Colonel’s real mayo or spicy
sauce.

“The Double Down is one of the most buzzworthy fast food menu items ever,” said Nick Chavez, CMO, KFC U.S. “After nearly a decade of people begging for its return, we’re embracing the chaos, bringing back our most iconic sandwich ever for just four weeks.”

The KFC Double Down drops at KFC restaurants nationwide on Monday, March 6, and as stated by Chavez, is available for only a four week window, leaving fans a short time to indulge in the culinary anarchy in sandwich form.

If you really can’t wait to have one, KFC is hosting a special Double Down Drop on March 5, which will allow select fans early access to the Double Down Sandwich. Sign up at www.kfcdoubledowndrop.com, starting on March 2. Definitely act quickly as sign-ups are on a first-come, first-serve basis to the first 2,014 customers — in honor of the Double Down’s last appearance on KFC’s U.S. menus.
