Here’s How To Make A Jägermeister Currywurst Poutine

We’ve been enamored with Jägermeister for years now, when we thought – could it be incorporated into a savory dish?

What we did know was that the brand had released only a select amount of ingredients from their top secret recipe to the public, including the fall spices of cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, and orange bitters.

And that’s when we turned to FOODBEAST Chef, Frank Deloach. Deloach found a way to use the spirit to his advantage to create a contemporary German-inspired dish: Jägermeister Currywurst Poutine. The poutine gravy combines Jägermeister, spicy mustard seeds, apple cider vinegar, honey, curry powder, butter, flour, stock, whole grain mustard, Worcestershire and ketchup to make the gravy dreams are made of.

“Now we’re going to grill some wieners.”

Can’t be mad at a dish that combines heavenly gravy, french fries, grilled bratwurst and cheese curds.

But he just couldn’t stop there.

Our favorite chef moved over to the bar to show us how to make his Black Forest Cocktail, giving us a fantastic drink to wash those fries down. Muddled cherries, fresh lime juice, mezcal, simple syrup, Jägermeister, and topped with Mexican chocolate shavings. Introducing the Jägermeister Black Forest Cocktail.

Jägermeister Currywurst Poutine

Ingredients:

2 Bratwursts
8 oz Beef Stock
1 cup Flour
Half cup of Butter
Half cup of Mustard Seeds
4 oz Honey
12 oz Apple Cider Vinegar
2 tbsp Curry Powder
2 oz Ketchup
1 oz Worcestershire
2 oz Jägermeister
8 oz French Fries
4 oz Cheese Curds
2 tbsp Grain Mustard
The gravy. Start by toasting butter & curry powder in a 6 qt. sauce pan. Once fragrant add flour. Cook roux until it smells nutty, about 3 minutes. Add stock and bring to a boil. Add your Jägermeister, ketchup, and Worcestershire until it coats the back of a spoon. Season accordingly with salt and pepper.

Pickled Mustard Seeds. In a separate 2 qt. sauce pan place your mustard seeds, apple cider and honey and bring to a boil.

Bratwurst and the Finish. Grill the bratwurst. Drop your fries into the fryer and cook until golden. In a bowl toss the fries with the sliced bratwurst, cheese curds and salt. Place on a plate, generously drown in gravy and top with pickled mustard seeds.
