The New Resident Evil Popcorn Bucket Is Basically A Bag Of Organs

Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil arrives in theaters on September 18, but before the screamfest kicks off, fans will have a chance to get their hands on a collectible popcorn bucket that looks like an organ transplant bag.

Available at both AMC Theatres and Regal Cinemas, the green bag features a medical cross with the words “Handle with Care. Keep Cool. Do Not Freeze” underneath. Below that sits a tiny heart logo above the words “Organ Transplant,” while the Resident Evil title appears on the opposite side. A few blood splatters complete the look.

The ghoulish collectible makes for a fitting introduction to Cregger’s Resident Evil world, which draws inspiration from the video game franchise rather than recreating its story beat for beat. Fans can purchase the popcorn bag at concession stands starting September 17, while supplies last.

Cregger, who directed Weapons and Barbarian, seemed like a natural pick to reinvigorate the Resident Evil film franchise. His take on the beloved video game series has still stirred up controversy among diehards, some of whom say it strays too far from the source material. Others have praised his willingness to take the property in a different direction.

In a recent conversation with director Curry Barker, who helmed the recent box office hit Obsession, Cregger addressed the backlash.

“If I did that, I don’t think I’d be creatively fulfilled, and I don’t even think they would enjoy it,” Cregger said. “If I just did the story of the games, I think the most diehard fans would be bummed. So I don’t know what to do about it.”
