Lionel Messi may be known for his prowess on the pitch, but it is his palate that is getting noticed now.

In a recent interview with Argentina’s Luzu TV, the soccer legend shared quite a bit about himself, including the fact that he likes his wine mixed with Sprite. While many found this odd, Tinto de Verano (Spanish for “red wine of summer”) is a common drink in Spain. It is also referred to more generally as a wine spritzer.

His reason for this preference? “I like wine. I mix it with Sprite if I want to get drunk faster.”

See, sports legends are just like us.
