The Rock’s Unusual ‘Hot Ones’ Request: Grilled Salmon Instead Of Wings

“Hot Ones” has become one of the most popular interview shows, with fans loving every moment of celebrities struggling through a lineup of absurdly spicy chicken wings while trying to stay composed and answer host Sean Evans’ questions. Over the years, Evans has sat down with big names like Gordon Ramsay, Paul Rudd, Charlize Theron, Shaquille O’Neal, Conan O’Brien and plenty more. But one elusive guest? Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

“We’ve been pitching [The Rock] obviously for years and one time I got a note back that was like, ‘would you be willing to do, instead of wings, grilled salmon strips?’ And in my head I was like, that had to come from his mouth,” Evans told Bloomberg. He continued, “That’s as close as we’ve gotten. And then it fell through.”

The Rock flipping the script is nothing new. Just this past year at WrestleMania 40, ‘The Final Boss’ found himself in a massive storyline with Cody Rhodes that cranked up the hype leading into the event. But swapping wings for grilled salmon? That’s a curveball—especially for a guy who’s never been shy about going all out on a cheat meal.

Perhaps going one on one with The Great One doesn’t apply when chicken wings are involved.
