Taco Bell Testing Barbacoa Tacos and Burritos?

On a recent trip to Taco Bell to procure an 88 cent Crunch Wrap Supreme, we noticed a new product that was being advertised quite modestly amidst other items on the menu. It seems the chain is testing Barbacoa soft tacos and burritos, priced at $1.29 and $2.49 respectively. While there was little information or copy available on the products, Barbacoa usually refers to a form of cooking that refers to slow-cooking meats (or a whole sheep) over an open fire or in a hole dug in the ground covered with maguey leaves. In many cases, it just means the meat is steamed until tender. We assume this is the route Taco Bell went on this item:

For those interested in trying these new Barbacoa products out, they’re currently available at 141 East 17th Street, Costa Mesa, CA location. No word on any national roll-outs, but as soon as that information is made available to us you all will be the first to know about it!
