Facing Salmonella Scare, Trader Joe's Recalls Cashews

Well, if you wanted another sign that the world is ending, here you go. Trader Joe's, the popular market chain specializing in gluten free, vegan and organic food products, has issued a recall on a specific batch of cashews that could possibly be contaminated with Salmonella.

On Jan. 15, Trader Joe's announced via its website that, "Out of abundance of caution, all lots of Trader Joe's Raw Cashew Pieces (barcode number 00505154) have been removed from store shelves and their sale has been suspended while we investigate this matter."

No illnesses have been reported at the time of this report. Trader Joe's insists that the specific brand of cashews were only distributed to Trader Joe's stores.

The cashews were distributed in the following states:

In order for customers to identify the specific batch of cashews, Trader Joe's encouraged anyone who purchased cashews to check the lot code for "BEST BEFORE 07.17.2016TF4."

Trader Joe's urged customers to discard the cashews or return them to any store location for a full refund. Customers are urged to call Trader Joe's Customer Relations at (626) 599-3817.
