Del Taco officially released their new Turkey Tacos earlier this week as a new menu item. FOODBEAST was able to find them at a test site last November and, honestly, they tasted pretty much the same as the ground beef option. With 33% less fat than their ground beef counterparts, they’re looking to help out in the New Year’s resolutions department.

The new turkey tacos are made up of seasoned lean ground turkey, grated cheese, pico de gallo and shredded lettuce clocking in at 150 calories each. At $1.29 each, customers can get the turkey tacos on either a crunchy taco shell or a soft tortilla. Also new to the menu is Del Taco’s new Turkey CrunchTada toastadas which also features the new lean ground turkey meat.

Ummm… if they’re made with ground beef, why are they calling them turkey?

Thank you for changing it, I thought I was losing my marbles :)

I wish Taco Bell would do something like this. I love their tacos, but usually get the crunchy tacos with shredded chicken instead of beef to save fat and cals.

I make them at home, you can buy the Taco Bell seasoning in grocery stores and then just use ground turkey instead of beef. Even the times I’ve used beef before it tastes better than what you get at Taco Bell.

Yeah, we sometimes make tacos at home as well. Ever made your own taco shells? Not from scratch or anything, but I mean using corn tortillas rather than buying a box of pre-made shells. Learned this from Good Eats. The texture and the flavor between homemade taco shells and store bought are like night and day. Try it sometime. You may never buy store bought taco shells again.

I have all of Good Eats episodes, but I don’t eat them with tortillas, I just eat the meat with veggies and cheese, or sometimes possibly chips (you can use Doritos and make your own Doritos locos at home (been doing this long before Taco Bell ever thought of it)

Eh, I don’t like the Doritos Locos tacos. I’m an original taco girl, all the way. And so if you use the ground beef with chips, then essentially it’s more of a dip than a taco. I see what you’re saying. Me, I prefer to pile everything in to a nice crunchy shell and make a complete mess of myself, LOL

I tried out these Del Taco turkey tacos last week and thought they were quite tasty. I’m hoping that they keep them on & they aren’t just a short-timer!
