Domino’s Pizza Unveils First Ever Vegan Pizza

v011

2014′s looking good for vegans already — if you live in Israel, anyway. Last Monday, Domino’s Pizza Israel launched a brand-new vegan-friendly pizza, the first of its kind worldwide for the chain. According to Jewish world news site Haaretz, several pizza chains in Israel already offer cheese-less pizzas, but Domino’s new vegan pie features a soy-based cheese substitute topped with vegetables. The family size goes for about $20.

Of course, we probably can’t expect something like this to roll stateside anytime soon, but it’s nice to know it’s possible right? Domino’s USA: your move.

Dominique would be a foodie if she had money to pay for food. For now, she gets by just looking at food photography, which results in at least one more starving journalism student every time Instagram breaks down.

    Mmmmm, sounds…. yummy.

    (not)

Don’t get me wrong, I love vegetables and 8 out of 10 pizzas I order for myself are usually all veg. But nothing good EVER comes from a cheese substitute, although what the heck, I’d try it once just to try it. If it kicks ass then I have a new pizza I’ll order from Dominos because the soy-based cheese “substitute” will be less fat and calories than regular cheese.

Nothing good other than animals not being tortured. Which if you think about it is a pretty big deal.

I agree. But if this ends up in the states, I’ll be surprised. I’ll be even more surprised if it becomes popular.

Is the crust made without animal products as well? Otherwise it’s just a vegetable & non-dairy cheese pizza ;-)

I am a vegan food eater, but I don’t like soy based cheese. If they used Daiya cheese that would be perfect for me. :)
