Some days acts of kindness are extremely difficult to find. Though, luckily, they're still out there. Michael De Beyer has owned Kaiserhof Restaurant and Wunderbar in Montgomery, Texas for 17 years. The authentic 6,000-square foot German restaurant also just happens to be where 19-year-old Brittany Mathis, her sister and her mother work.
When Mathis noticed a rash on her legs, she went to the hospital to get it checked and discovered it was due to blood clotting, according to KHOU News. After CAT scans and MRIs, she was told she had a tumor. Mathis was uninsured and was not signed up for Affordable Health Care, facing a dilemma when it came to paying for the medical bills. She lost her father to an unknown brain tumor in 2000 and was unable to afford the tests to find out whether or not hers was malignant or benign.
Her employer, De Beyer, refused to stand by and watch as Mathis' troubles piled and decided to do something to help. De Beyer decided to sell Kaiserhof Restaurant and Wunderbar and use the profits to help Mathis pay her medical bills.
De Beyer believes the restaurant is worth up to $2 million and, once it's sold, he plans to spend more time with his wife and children.
