It takes 19 hours to get to New York City, 12 hours to get to Washington D.C., lots of good music and good company. Luckily, on my road trip I had lots of time, a fully charge iPod and great friends. D.C. was our first stop. We checked out the main tourists spots and went to a food truck festival. After that, we headed off to NYC and the eats were crazy. So much good food, not enough time. The whole trip ended with a campus tour of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. Overall, I'd say it was a great trip.

There were three of us for the road trip. However, this was my car's best companion, Baby Bouncing Bubba.

Our first stop in New York was the famous Carnegie Deli. The pastrami sandwich was the size of my head. The picture below is of a roast beef sandwich.

The walls of the restaurant are completely covered with autographed photos. This one just caught my eye.

Almost as essential as a hot dog in the city is Nuts 4 Nuts. Candied coated goodness.

Mister Softee's cherry dipped cone is always on my list of foods to get for New York.

There was a list of things I had to do in the city and dim sum was on top. This is a steamed roast pork bun from Jing Fong in Chinatown.

This beef noodle dish is my all-time favorite dim sum item. No matter how much time passes, I still crave it. It really is that good.

The last stop in NY was the CIA, the Harvard of culinary schools. I took a campus tour and saw where some of the greatest chefs learned their trade.

Of course I had to eat there so I stopped at the Apple Pie Bakery Cafe on campus before I left. It's run by students, back and front of the house. This is a broccoli cheese quiche my friend ordered.
